The Collection

Speer Library houses over 550,000 catalogued books, pamphlets, and microforms. The collection is strong in the basic disciplines of theology and the practice of ministry. Special collections include the following: The Louis F. Benson Collection of Hymnology, numbering over 10,000 volumes; The Grosart Library of Puritan and Nonconformist Theology with over 5,000 STC and Wing titles; the Sprague Collection of 20,000 early American theological imprints; and the 5,000-title Agnew Baptist Collection, dealing with the sacramental controversy.
